Material Matters: Frogboard
When we were searching for a suitable material for the Eureka cold plunge tub, we wanted to find something that combined the natural, warm aesthetic of wood with all-condition durability to match the rest of our tub—something to offset the coolness of metal both aesthetically and physically. We found that material in Frog Board.
Frogboard is a product developed by Canadian company Brenlo, as an eco-friendly wood alternative that has some key advantages over natural wood. It is a composite material that uses upcycled rice husks, left over from rice-milling, combines them with a bonding resin, and molds them into boards. The resulting material is 100% resistant to water, rot, swelling and mildew. It can be cut and machined like wood, easily takes stain or paint and is completely recyclable and biodegradable.
On the seat sections of the Eureka cold plunge tub, it offers an attractive, durable and non-slip surface for your entry and exit points to the plunge. And because of it’s engineered properties, it will stand up to the test of time and consistent use.
